Harvest to Table uses American standard measurements like cups, pounds, teaspoons, etc. However, if you are trying to follow a recipe and reading this site from practically any other place in the world, you probably use metric measurements. The Measurement Converter can help you figure out the metric equivalents for the measurements used in the recipes on this site.

The Measurement Converter uses a Google feature to calculate conversions to and from metric measurements. To use it, type in the measurement listed in the recipe, 1/2 cup for example, and then type “in” and then the metric measurement you would like to see it converted to, such as “milliliters.” Then click “convert.” A new page will open to the Google conversion.

Examples

1/2 cup in milliliters
3 cups in liters

350 F in C (this will translate Fahrenheit to Celsius)
10 inches in cm
1 teaspoon in ml
1 pound in kg
1 ounce in grams

The Measurement Converter will alas, not convert baking measurements such as teaspoons of baking powder into grams. For such measurements, follow these conversions:

Baking powder
1 tablespoon ~= 1 packet/envelope = 11 g

Butter
1 stick ~ = 1/2 C = 112 g
100 g ~= 1 stick minus a tablespoon

Flour
1/4 C ~= 30 g
100 g ~= 3/4 C plus one rounded tablespoon
1 C ~= 120 g

Sugar
100 g ~= 1/3 C + 1 tablespoon
1 C ~= 240 g
